OVERVIEW
The World Deaf Rugby 7’s Australia 2018 Sports Program encompasses:

  • Up to three days of Men’s & Women’s Deaf Rugby 7’s competition – 23, 24, and 26 April 2018
  • A twilight Australia vs Wales Deaf Rugby 15’s Test – 27 April 2018
  • The possibility of an additional Deaf Rugby 15’s Test should further countries bring sufficient players to field a 15’s team

Though there is never absolute certainty, there may be up to fifteen(15) Men’s 7’s Teams and up to seven(7) Women’s 7’s Teams – i.e.

Likely/Possible Deaf Men’s 7’s Teams include:

  • Wales
  • Welsh Barbarians
  • Japan
  • Fiji
  • Fiji Barbarians
  • World Barbarians
  • Dragonflies
  • Warriors

Likely/Possible Deaf Women’s 7’s Teams include:

  • Australian Barbarians
  • England
  • Fiji
  • World Barbarians
  • Australian Indigenous

All TEAMS & INDIVIDUAL players need to register for the tournament and pay the applicable Registration Fee. 

Team coaches, officials and support staff do not need to register.

VENUE
The tournament is being held at the David Phillips Fields, University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney, High Street Kensington, 2052, NSW), an international-class sporting complex that includes two rugby fields each with its own pavilion and facilities.  It is located 8 km from the Sydney Central Business District (CBD) with easy access from the city by public transport.
The venue is well equipped with all required facilities including well-maintained change rooms, Canteens, first-aid room, equipment room etc., and there are several adjacent warm-up/training fields.
Whilst there may be some accommodation closer to the venue the vast majority of accommodation (from cheap to more up-market) is in the Sydney CBD and surrounding inner-city areas.  See ACCOMMODATION for booking information.
